I bench tested this unit, and it did not seem right, so took to my transmission guy, who opened up inspected repairing as necessary. Installed new synchrony gears at the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear locations. He found worn parts inside this transmission and made the following repairs: I question whether this matters, but the physical condition suggests some history.

Based on the look of bell housing interior, it looks as if clutch came apart some point in history donor car, and damaged portions. The ZF S5D 320Z-THDU transmission has BMW part number. Installed seals at the front and re locations. This transmission was removed from an E46 330CI model that crashed in the rear.
